Yasser Al Abbasi is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gulf Petrochemicals Industries Company (GPIC), bringing over 35 years of expertise in the petrochemical and agri-nutrients industry. A GPIC veteran, he began his career as a Trainee Graduate Electrical Engineer and has since held numerous leadership roles, including Electrical Supervisor, Training Superintendent, Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager, Technical Services Manager, Plants Operations Manager, and General Manager Manufacturing, before becoming CEO in October 2021.
Yasser is a prominent figure in the industry, serving as a board member of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), Gulf Petrochemical & Chemical Association (GPCA), and Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA). He has also contributed to Bahrain’s occupational safety initiatives as a member of the Supreme Council of Occupational Safety and Health and as Deputy Chairman of the Bahrain Health and Safety Society.
Internationally, Yasser has collaborated with organizations like the USA National Safety Council, the UK’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), and the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA). He holds a BSc. in Electrical Power Systems from the University of Bahrain and an MBA in Financial Management from Hull University, UK.
