Inviting GPCA members to obtain the OCS certificate

Ensuring responsible plastic management is essential in addressing global plastic pollution and safeguarding the environment. As part of its commitment to sustainability and industry best practices, GPCA has successfully launched the Operations Clean Sweep (OCS) Certification Scheme in collaboration with the GCC Accreditation Center (GAC) as the official accreditation body. This initiative establishes a structured framework to help companies prevent plastic pellet, flake, and powder loss, reinforcing their role in environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance. With the accreditation of approved certification bodies, GPCA members can now obtain recognized certification under the GPCA Plastic Pellet, Flakes, and Powders Management Scheme, which is fully aligned with the global OCS program. By adopting this certification, companies demonstrate their commitment to minimizing plastic loss, enhancing operational efficiency, and contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Certification Bodies Registeration:

Interested certification bodies are invited to fill out the GPCA OCS Scheme Certification Body Registration Form, available via the link below:

About the OCS Scheme:

Operation Clean Sweep, originally launched by the American Chemistry Council (ACC) and the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) in the United States, is a global initiative aimed at preventing plastic pellet, flake, and powder loss to the environment. Practiced in over 60 countries, the OCS scheme has become a cornerstone for best practices in plastic management across thousands of manufacturing and transportation facilities worldwide.

In alignment with our mission to support the entire plastics manufacturing value chain, GPCA is leading the OCS initiative in the GCC region, encouraging our members to implement effective measures to mitigate plastic loss. By joining this scheme, members commit to upholding rigorous standards and practices that ensure the containment of plastic materials.

Certification Bodies Registration Process:

To maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the OCS scheme, certification bodies must undergo a comprehensive registration process, including assessment by GCC accreditation bodies. This assessment is based on the ISO/IEC 17021-1 and ISO/IEC 17021-2 standards for environmental management systems, alongside specific requirements set by GPCA.

Who Should Get OCS Certified?

Registration is open to any plastics handling facility including Producers, Transporters, Converters, and other operators within the supply chain.
