Naser Al-Omaira is the acting Chief Executive Officer of Fertil Company, which is a subsidiary of Fertiglobe, the world’s largest seaborne exporter of urea and ammonia combined, and an early mover in sustainable ammonia. Fertil’s annual production capacity is 2.1 million metric tons of urea and 45 thousand metric tons of Diesel Exhaust Fuel (DEF).

Since joining Fertil in 2021, Mr. Al-Omaira has played a vital role in advancing the company’s sustainability agenda. Under his leadership, Fertil achieved its first shipment of low-carbon ammonia to Germany, paving the way for strategic energy partnerships across the hydrogen value chain.

Mr. Al-Omaira has also played a key role in the company’s decarbonization journey by deploying the world’s first cost-effective modular CycloneCC carbon capture unit. This innovative technology enhances efficiency over traditional methods and supports the UAE’s ambitious net-zero emissions goals.

He led the partnership agreement with ADNOC Distribution to supply Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), a key product in reducing air pollution from diesel engines. DEF also known as AdBlue in Europe, is a non-hazardous urea solution that helps cut down NOx, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon, and particulate emissions significantly, further underscoring Fertiglobe’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Mr. Al-Omaira has also driven operational excellence through a strategic initiative to optimize costs, streamline processes, and reallocate resources, achieving sustainable cost reductions in 2023 and 2024.

Recognizing the importance of talent development, he successfully recruited the first nine female Emirati engineers at Fertil’s production site. Today, the number of female engineers on the operations team exceeds 20, reflecting his dedication to fostering diversity and ensure gender balance. He has also championed employee growth through various training programs, enhancing capabilities and well-being across the organization.

With over 20 years of leadership and technical experience in the oil and gas sector, Mr. AlOmaira joined ADNOC in 2003 as a process engineer. He has held several senior roles, including Vice President of Site Supply Chain, Vice President of Plant Availability, and Vice President of Maintenance at Borouge.

In addition to his leadership at Fertil, Mr. Al-Omaira serves as a board member of the Arab Fertilizers Association (AFA) and is a committee member of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA).
