Markus Kamieth, CEO, BASF, assumed the Presidency of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), effective 1 January 2026.

Kamieth steps into the role at a time when international cooperation is essential to address shared global challenges related to chemicals management, sustainability, and trade, said ICCA. As ICCA President, he will represent chemical associations worldwide and support dialogue with international institutions and stakeholders, the organization added.

GPCA is a full member of ICCA, which represents chemical industry associations from around the world.

Commenting on the start of his term, Markus Kamieth said: “I am honored to serve as President of ICCA. Even in a challenging geopolitical environment, international collaboration remains crucial to enable safe, sustainable and competitive chemical value chains.”

ICCA said that it will continue its engagement in key global processes in 2026, including the Global Framework on Chemicals, INC5, and advance Responsible Care®, the industry’s global initiative to strengthen health, safety, security, and environmental performance across the chemical sector.
