GPCA is calling upon the GCC’s brightest young minds to submit an abstract by 10 September 2025 and shape the future of the chemical industry
The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) is proud to announce the 2nd edition of the GPCA Carbon Neutrality Cup, calling on the brightest minds across the GCC to submit their most visionary ideas for a climate-neutral future.
This opportunity is ideal for STEM students across the GCC seeking to make an impact in our quest for a climate-smart planet. The competition, spearheaded by the GPCA Youth Council, invites undergraduate and postgraduate students in STEM disciplines to submit abstracts by 10 September 2025, outlining innovative, science-driven solutions to tackle climate change and achieve carbon neutrality within the chemical industry.
Participants will compete for attractive cash prizes, gain visibility among industry leaders, and contribute to a more sustainable future for the industry and the world. The GPCA Carbon Neutrality Cup serves as a platform to highlight groundbreaking research and creative problem-solving ideas, bridging the gap between industry and academia in the pursuit of a net-zero future.
By participating in the competition, students will not only showcase their innovative idea or project in front of leading industry leaders, they will also promote their university as a leading chemical research institute within the GCC and become part of a larger community dedicated to driving net-zero emissions.

In order to participate in the competition, the candidates must present a solution to any one of the following challenges:
- Energy efficiency
Projects focusing on optimizing processes, using renewables, or introducing energy-saving technologies in petrochemical operations.
- Carbon footprint reduction
Ideas that integrate decarbonization technologies suited for the GCC region, with practical implementation and measurable impact.
- Innovative waste management
Solutions to reduce, recycle, or recover industrial waste, incorporating circular economy principles.
