The announcement marks a significant achievement in GPCA’s commitment to sustainability and responsible plastic waste management

The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) is thrilled to announce it has successfully launched an Operations Clean Sweep (OCS) Certification Scheme in collaboration with the GCC Accreditation Center (GAC) as the scheme’s official accreditation body. This milestone marks a significant step toward a stronger, more accountable plastics value chain in the region, underlining GPCA’s commitment to sustainability and responsible plastic management.

With the accreditation of approved certification bodies, GPCA is proud to share that two member companies, YANSAB-SABIC followed by Saudi Chevron, have receive an accredited certificate of compliance against GPCA’s Plastic Pellet, Flakes, and Powders Management Scheme, which is aligned with the global OCS program.

This achievement reflects the industry’s proactive efforts to enhance environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. As more companies commit to OCS certification, the region moves closer to a world where zero plastic loss is the industry standard.

Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, Secretary General of GPCA, commented, ” The launch of the OCS Certification Scheme is a pivotal step in GPCA’s ongoing efforts to foster a sustainable future for the petrochemical and chemical industries in the Arabian Gulf region. Our industry’s dedication to environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence sets a powerful example. With each company that achieves OCS certification, we set a new standard in plastic pellet, flakes, and powders management across the entire plastic value chain.”

He added; “The initiative is designed to support the petrochemical industry’s ongoing efforts toward plastic sustainability, focusing on circular economy principles and environmental stewardship. By investing in advanced technologies and sustainable practices, the industry is committed to reducing plastic waste and promoting environmental, social, and economic sustainability.”

“This achievement is a testament to our continuous efforts to promote a cleaner and more sustainable future. It would not have been possible without the dedication of YANSAB leadership and employees, the collaboration of our partners, and the unwavering support of our stakeholders.”
