GPCA’s full member company, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) announced in June that the company has achieved a new sustainability milestone.
SABIC was awarded a Gold Medal by EcoVadis, a leading global provider of business sustainability ratings, for its strong commitment to sustainability, placing it in the top 5% of organizations rated over the past year.
In a statement on SABIC Americas’ LinkedIn account, SABIC said: “We are proud of this recognition, as we know that sustainability matters to all our stakeholders, particularly to customers whose own sustainability performance depends on how we do in this area.”
SABIC has consistently been recognized for its sustainable solutions. In July 2023, the company was awarded for its innovative manufacturing solution for low carbon urea by the prestigious Edison Awards as a Gold Award winner under the Food and Agriculture Advancements “Soil & Crop” category.
In 2022, it earned another Gold EcoVadis Medal, receiving a score of 72 points out of 100. The score placed SABIC in the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis in the “manufacture of basic chemicals, fertilizers and nitrogen compounds, plastics and synthetic rubber” industrial category.
The EcoVadis score (0-100) reflects the quality of a company’s sustainability management system at the time of the assessment. EcoVadis Medals and Badges recognize eligible companies that have completed the EcoVadis assessment process and demonstrated a relatively strong management system that addresses the sustainability criteria.
