The GPCA Procurement Symposium, facilitated by Kearney, took place on the sidelines of the 17th Annual GPCA Forum from 4-5 December under the theme “The Future of Procurement”.
The Symposium provided a comprehensive understanding of the changing role of procurement and the urgent need for resilient supply chains in an era marked by uncertainty and constant change.
It highlighted the fact that in today’s world, procurement roles require agility and adaptability, and that strong, resilient supply chains are more necessary than ever before.
The event also shed light on the transformative impact of digital technologies on procurement processes, discussed the increasing importance of localization in procurement practices to reduce uncertainty risks, and covered the pivotal role of procurement in ensuring sustainable supply chains. This was illustrated through a series of case studies from industries that are particularly carbon-intensive.
The highlight session of the symposium was the session on ‘Realizing Opportunities for Procurement Collaboration in the GCC.’ This session discussed the importance of collective action among organizations to effectively tackle the various challenges faced by the industry.
